Grammy Nominated Songwriter David Cory Lee was born in Wichita Falls, Texas. He is a third generation musician who grew up with influences such as Jimmy Rodgers, Hank Williams Sr. and Jr., Willie, Waylon, Merle Haggard and Ray Charles. At the age of thirteen, David wrote his first song – “Ghost in a Songwriter’s Dream.” After graduating from Lampasas High School in 1987, he moved to Dallas, Texas to start a band and played every roadside dive he could find.

In June of 1993, David and his new bride, Stacie Bartlett, moved to Nashville in pursuit of David’s songwriting career. In 1997, thanks to Sharon Archer, David signed an exclusive songwriting agreement with Estill Sowards at Ken-Ten Publishing, a small company in association with John Doris and Hallmark Direction Company.

David landed his first cut with “This Ol’ Heart” recorded by Terri Clark and shortly afterwards had the title cut to John Michael Montgomery’s “This One’s Gonna Leave A Mark.” David’s first single was a top fifteen song called “Now You See Me Now You Don’t” recorded by Lee Ann Womack.

In 2001, Chris Oglesby signed David to BMG Music Publishing. David had a top fifteen hit with “Before I Knew Better” recorded by Sony artist Brad Martin and landed his first #1 hit “19 Somethin’” recorded by Mark Wills. In 2004, he scored again with “Letters From Home” recorded by John Michael Montgomery.

David posted three songs on the Billboard chart in 2007 – his second #1 hit “Lucky Man” recorded by Montgomery Gentry, 2008 Grammy Nominated Song “I Need You” recorded by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill and “I Wanna Feel Somethin’” recorded by Trace Adkins. He was also proud to land a George Strait cut with “Better Rain.”

Some other hits of David’s are his third #1 hit “Roll With It” recorded by Easton Corbin, “Hello World” recorded by Lady Antebellum and “This Ain’t No Love Song” recorded by Trace Adkins. David also wrote the Alan Jackson single, "You Go Your Way," and songs on the September 2012 releases by Easton Corbin and Kix Brooks.

David attributes his success to his faith in God, to his loving wife Stacie who has always believed in him and to his amazing daughter Jessee who makes every day special.
